Interns with Impact. Drive. Motivation. Superpowers.
TALENT
Take the headache out of finding talent.
Sometimes a fresh new set of eyes is what you need to push your company to the next level. With Students + Startups, you are given access to our vetted pool of highly qualified candidates. Once you secure an intern, you are only responsible to pay HALF their stipend. The other half is subsidized by the 80|20 Foundation.
That’s just a smart business decision.

S+S gave me the opportunity to network not only with my company partner but with other students around the nation. I loved having a geekdom membership as I was able to network and learn from the startups. S+S gave me the opportunity to grow professionally, personally and brought me out of my comfort zone. I was able to gain lifelong friends and meaningful connections with mentors. Hands down best summer ever!

SA Heron
My internship at the Heron was an incredible experience. I expected to learn some new skills, but was nervous as to how the summer would go. At every step of the internship, Ben gave me challenging, exciting assignments and projects that helped me learn and refine my own skills. Whenever I felt overwhelmed, Ben was quick to encourage me and validate that reporting is hard work, but his reassurance and help every time I hit a barrier gave me the confidence I needed. I am so glad that I had this experience of working with a team that loves what they do, and is dedicated to their mission. I learned so much over the course of this summer!

The other students really made this program amazing. Everyone was inclusive and social. I always felt welcome, eager to explore San Antonio and excited to develop connections with them.

I learned so much more than I thought I would coming into the internship. I got to fully immerse myself in the marketing team at my internship. They mentored me and showed me exactly what I had been wanting to gain experience on. The S+S program itself offered so many resources as well. This made this experience for the summer even better

The interns crushed it…The process is easy, the talent is high-quality and adaptable, and you can’t beat the price! We’ve continued to employ some of the interns over the year and will definitely be hiring more for years to come!

The S+S program provided me with an invaluable experience that I don’t think I would’ve gotten anywhere else. I was matched with the perfect company and team while learning new skills and knowledge. (The team) always communicated with the cohort via Slack and email and were always quick and attentive when it came to answering any questions or concerns.”

In our second year in business, Students + Startups took us to the next level of growth. We are huge fans! Where else can you access an incredibly talented pool of pre-vetted applicants, have a chance to connect more deeply with other entrepreneurs and startup companies in San Antonio, AND have subsidized compensation? It was a gamechanger. And we’ve loved our interns so much they have stayed on and worked the following semesters. Can’t wait for S+S 2020!

The Students + Startups program was an incredible experience! Not only did my intern add so much value and amaze me with her contributions, she became a resource I plan to continue using outside of the program. The community aspects of the program, such as the events and workshops, were hugely beneficial for me as a small business owner in meeting new, local connections that have already added value to my business.

The Students+Startups internship gave me a sneak peak of the growing tech scene taking place on Houston St. My supervisor introduced me to one of the employees of Scaleworks, a venture equity firm that has acquired 7 B2B SaaS companies. And so here I am, 3 months into my first job out of college as a Business Analyst for Scaleworks, Inc, sitting in the heart of the Houston St. tech revolution and I love every moment of it

FAQ
All interns must live in San Antonio during the entire program. If you are remote or hybrid, we ask that you keep an open line of communication with daily check-ins.
You’re not committed to the program until you find the perfect candidate, and our team will work extremely hard to find you a great intern.
Ideally, juniors to master students. We accept applications from freshman students, but companies have preferred students to be more along in their studies (around their second and third year).
Yes, if your budget allows, and if you have a role for each individual intern.
It does depend on the company and its hiring needs, but we want to ensure that every intern has a high-impact experience.
It’s an annual event that we host, bringing all of the vetted candidates and company partners together for “speed interviews.” You interview with ~8 candidates, 10-minute interviews each. There’s networking before, there’s networking after, and we encourage interns to utilize this time to walk up to you if they wanted more time or didn’t get the chance to interview with you. It’s a mandatory event for our intern candidates and company partners. Our out-of-SA students will do their interviews via phone call.

As we’ve grown, companies are bringing out everything they’ve got to set themselves a part from other company partners. This means pull-up banners, tablecloths, candy, t-shirts, swag, etc. Use your imagination, and bring your A-game. You are selling your company to them just as much as they are selling themselves to you all.
